In February 2013, Nexstar Broadcasting Group acquired KPGE, the CBS affiliate for the Fresno-Visalia market. The station signed on air in 1953 as KJEO and the market’s second television station. In 2000, the call letters were changed to KGPE. Today the station is branded as CBS47 On Your Side which reflects its strong history of community involvement. CBS47 regularly supports many deserving organizations including the Salvation Army, The Girl Scouts of Central California, the Community Food Bank, and countless others. The station regularly produce segments within CBS47 news like ‘Ask the Mayor,’ and ‘Cool Schools’ which exemplify its hyper-local focus in the market. CBS47 is the home of several popular syndicated programs including Ellen DeGeneres, Rachael Ray, The Doctors, Extra and Entertainment Tonight.
