Augusta’s ABC Affiliate, WJBF began broadcasting on Thanksgiving weekend in 1953 as Augusta’s first local television station. Later WJBF became the first stations in the Southeast to broadcast in full color. Always a market leader, WJBF has been a favorite of the Augusta community ever since. Operated by Media General from 2000-2016, WJBF was purchased by Nexstar in the fall of 2016. WJBF is recognized as Augusta’s market leader… with award winning news coverage, the market’s most comprehensive severe weather coverage and the area’s largest family of locally produced programming and live sporting events. One locally produced program, The Parade of Quartets, is recognized as the longest continuously running local program in the US, on air for over 65 years. WJBF has received recognition for local news excellence and service to the community, including regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, EMMY and ADDY Awards and is a multiple winner of the Georgia Association of Broadcasters Station of the Year Award.
