On July 20, 2023, Nexstar acquired WSNN-LD (The Suncoast News Network) in Sarasota, FL. The acquisition has enabled WFLA-TV in Tampa to significantly increase and expand its leading local news presence within the Tampa Bay/Sarasota area; this includes Manatee, and Charlotte counties along the west coast of Florida. Home of the award-winning journalists of the “Suncoast News Network,” WSNN is a low-power independent station reaching more than 400,000 homes in the region. In addition, WSNN is carried on Comcast cable (channel 9) in Sarasota and on Spectrum (Channel 20, 1020) in the Tampa Bay coverage area. Currently WSNN delivers more than 50 hours of live local news every week. WFLA-TV, WTTA-TV, and now WSNN-LD are well positioned to cover political issues in Florida, and the state is almost always a battleground state in Presidential election years. On September 1, 2023, WSNN acquired the programming rights to “MyNet” TV distribution. The station’s syndicated programming includes People’s Court, the 700 Club, Maury, Seinfeld, and Extra.
